oDesk

So is decided to try oDesk.com out. Figured it might be a good way to make some extra cash, but it hasn't worked out that way. Out of the first 20 data entry jobs I applied for I only heard back from one. After the interview and doing some test work for the person, they decided they were going to go another way and would contact me later when they were ready. Nine of the remaining positions expired. So apparently they didn't really want to hire someone very badly. I'm sure that there is the possibility of making money on the site, but I haven't figured it out yet. I'll keep trying though :)

Hi Tianna. This is Nicole from Rent a Coder.

As someone with a lot of experience in online freelancing, I have to say you've discovered one of the most important secrets to succeeding as an online worker. And that's *not* to give up. It can take a lot of tries to score a lucrative job. The other part of success is working with a good company. It sounds like you're new to oDesk. If so, you should note that as an oDesk worker, you won't be able to make any more than 2 bids a month until you take certain Odesk tests or receive feedback on a certain number of projects. There are *no* such restrictions at Rentacoder, so I strongly encourage you to create an account there. In doing so, you can submit the required number of bids to succeed.

You can compare the 7 major services through this link and learn even more differences: http://www.rentacoder.com/RentACoder/DotNet/misc/VirtualWorkerIndustryComparison_ForWorkers.aspx

If you have any other questions, please let me know. You can also call in to talk to a facilitator 7 days a week, or email us (see http://www.rentacoder.com/RentACoder/misc/Feedback.asp).
